The Fondazione Acquario di Genova ONLUS<\/strong> was established in 2003 and its main objective is to raise awareness and educate the public on the conservation, management and responsible use of aquatic environments. The Ocean, the heart of life, covers three quarters of the planet’s surface and represents an invaluable source of culture and resources. A heritage increasingly threatened by human activity. More than half of the world’s population lives within 80 kilometres of the coastline. Today, there is no effective management of marine resources in general and only 1% is protected. The world’s ocean environments are under threat; a situation that could potentially endanger future generations. The signs of degradation are particularly visible in the Mediterranean Sea. For a long time, in order to make the public aware of the need to safeguard the Ocean, the Acquario di Genova has been organising educational programmes, exhibitions, conferences, environmental awareness campaigns and applied scientific research projects, also through collaborations with public and private entities. The idea of creating the Acquario di Genova Foundation stems from the recognition that, together with the Acquarium, Public Bodies, Companies and Associations can join forces to protect and enhance the aquatic environmental heritage. The experience gained by the Acquario di Genova, over many years of activity, represents an important starting point for the development of the Foundation’s activities.<\/span><\/h1>\n

La Fondazione Acquario di Genova \u00e8 nata nel 2003 ed ha come obiettivo principale sensibilizzare ed educare il grande pubblico alla conservazione, alla gestione e all\u00b9uso responsabile degli ambienti acquatici. Gli Oceani, culla della vita, coprono i tre quarti della superficie della Terra e rappresentano un\u2019inestimabile fonte di cultura e di risorse.Un patrimonio sempre pi\u00f9 minacciato dall\u2019attivit\u00e0 umana. La met\u00e0 della popolazione mondiale vive entro una distanza di 80 chilometri dalle coste.Oggi non esiste una gestione efficace delle risorse marine; solamente l\u00b91% \u00e8 protetto. Gli ambienti oceanici mondiali sono in pericolo; una situazione che potenzialmente potrebbe compromettere le generazioni future. I segni di degrado sono particolarmente visibili nel Mar Mediterraneo. Da tempo, per sensibilizzare il grande pubblico alla necessit\u00e0 di salvaguardare l\u00b9Oceano, l\u2019Acquario di Genova organizza programmi educativi, mostre, conferenze, campagne di sensibilizzazione ambientale e progetti di ricerca scientifica applicata, anche attraverso collaborazioni con Enti pubblici e privati. L\u2019idea di creare la Fondazione Acquario di Genova nasce dalla constatazione che, insieme all\u00b9Acquario, Enti Pubblici, Aziende e Associazioni possano unire le loro forze per tutelare e valorizzare il patrimonio ambientale acquatico. L\u2019esperienza maturata dall\u2019Acquario di Genova, nell\u2019arco di oltre 10 anni di attivit\u00e0, rappresenta un importante punto  di partenza per lo sviluppo delle attivit\u00e0 della Fondazione.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
